How do I know if my browser will allow pop-up windows?

Any of the more recent Netscape, Internet Explorer, and Firefox browsers should run the Java Script code to produce pop-up windows. You can click on this test link to check whether your pop-up blocker is enabled or disabled. If the new window does not open then your blocker is turned on and you will need to disable the pop-up blocker.

How do I know my monitor's resolution?

The minimum monitor resolution of 800x600 pixels or greater is recommended because the Evidence Collection website is set up at 800 pixels wide. If you use a narrower width resolution, you will have to scroll side to side, as well as up and down.

To check your monitor's resolution on a computer running Microsoft Windows:

  • Right-click any open space on your computer's desktop to bring up a pop-up menu.
  • Select Properties from the menu, and then select the Settings tab.
  • Under the Settings tab, you should see a slider labeled Screen Resolution.
The numbers under the slider is your monitor's resolution. Common settings, from lowest to highest, are:
  • 600 by 480 pixels
  • 800 by 600 pixels
  • 1024 by 780 pixels (recommended resolution)
  • 1280 by 1024 pixels

800 x 600 pixels is the minimum to use the tutorial, and 1024 by 780 pixels is recommended.
