ACADEMIC PROGRAM INFORMATION

Grade Submission | On-Line Course Evaluations | FAQs

Grade Submission

The mattrix for each course's grading scheme will be included within the syllabus for the course. This mattrix will be translated to the WebCT gradebook linkable from the homepage of the course. The students will have full view of their grades as they are posted. The faculty that will be grading the course assignments will be able to access the gradebook for the posting of these grades. Link to Instructions.

The instructor will have WevCT access to post the grades - but if they chose not to, the course secretary or course technical support person will gladly post these. Simply email them the names, assignment title, and grade.

The method of grading, i.e. letter grade, percentage, etc. will need to be communicated when the syllabus is submitted to the design support person.

The program director will be responsible for posting the grade within the official UTMB grading system.

On-Line Course Evaluations

At the UTMB School of Nursing all course evaluations are completed through an on-line form that is connected to a centralized database. The term course evaluation includes course, instructor, guest lecturer, clinical agencies and peer evaluations. Four weeks prior to the end of the semester an icon is released on the home page of each course titled, “Evaluations.” Students login to the system using their email user name and passwords. The login may be access directly through the following url: http://www.son.utmb.edu/database/evaluate.asp.

Typically the program director sends an email to all students reminding them of the importance of completing the evaluations. Instructors are also asked to encourage students to complete this important assessment. As an incentive for students to complete the evaluation, their unofficial final grade can be released once the class completion rate has reached 85%. Completion rate reports are circulated to instructors several times during this period. If a class does not reach that percentage, students must wait until official grades are posted and are accessible through eConnect.

Course evaluations are left open until one week after the last official class day. After this time instructors may obtain a copy of the course evaluation summary and comments from their course secretary. Any technical difficulties should be reported to Derrick Karacostas, the system administrator, at 409-772-4820 or dkaracos@utmb.edu.
