The Center for Nursing Research & Scholarship provides technical research skills in establishing test methods and procedures, developing grant applications and assistance with Institutional Review Board compliance. CNRS personnel review research protocols and conduct statistical and predictive analysis of data. The center maintains optical scanning hardware and software for the creation and scanning of customized, machine-readable instruments. The center can also convert paper instruments to Web-base format, and develop web surveys to collect and process data. CNRS maintains a research instrument database that contains over 300 research instruments.
Academic Journal Directory
The Directory contains listings for over 400 journals concerning clinical
nursing, nursing education and research, and related health care fields. A
typical entry contains the full name of the journal, its publisher, its
frequency of publication, its intended readership, the types of manuscripts
reviewed, and a statement of purpose for prospective authors. Each journal
entry includes a contact address and many provide links to the official
websites of the journals and publishers.
APA Style Guide
As a service to UTMB, we offer answers to the most-frequently-asked APA Style
questions, based on the fifth edition of the
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. This
option is only available to students, faculty and staff.
Instrument Bank
The Center for Nursing Research & Scholarship maintains a large instrument bank of
questionnaires, surveys and other tools in nursing and related disciplines.
CNRS also maintains documentation on validity and reliability of these
instruments. Researchers are encouraged to use these examples to evaluate
the instruments' appropriateness to their own work, and to contact the
author or copyright holder(s) for permission to use the instrument.
CNRS Library
A wide range of research-related books and journals in CNRS is for the use of
faculty, staff, and students. The journals are not allowed to leave the
office. If an article needs to be copied, a photocopier is provided in CNRS
for that purpose. Books may be checked out through CNRS staff for a period
of one week. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to donate books to
CNRS for public use.
