Donation Form (.pdf)

It is our privilege to inform you that the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing’s Student Nurses Association (SNA) has coupled with the staff at UTMB to redesign a pediatric palliative care room located at the UTMB Children’s Hospital.

Palliative care is the process of providing comfort and symptomatic relief to terminally ill patients. The goal of palliative care is to make the inevitable transition from life to death as painless as possible, for the patient and family.

The mission of The Butterfly Project is to enhance the pediatric palliative care room for its intended purpose of providing a warm environment using evidence-based design to help preserve the dignity, integrity, and quality of life of terminally ill pediatric patients and their families.

Angel Cart for Butterfly Room

An “Angel Cart” is being worked on and will be maintained by the Student Nurses Association. This cart will provide personal care items, books, snacks, and other comfort items to families of terminally ill children who stay in the Butterfly Room. Students also hope to provide materials that will give families the option to design an “Angel” scrap book and make hand and/or foot prints out of Plaster of Paris. Please read more on project and ways you can give…
